Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football with community service. The first family is his youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. Second football he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-American teams. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. In his three years as Oklahoma's starter The Sooners finished 33-1-1, and picked up two championships. On his third scholarship, he was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned his diploma in education. Fourth Service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in the field of business. In 1988, he joined the ranks of an account representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's the top 10 most promising young males. In his student days, Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing a little over 256 pounds. He was captain of his university team in the year 1975. He was named assistant director of Athletics for the University of South Florida, in 1993. In 1988 the year he was a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into it into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Senior. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
